So much has changed recently due to the current worldwide crisis. It has greatly changed my senior year, my senior art show was cancelled which is a little sad, and now its affecting my senior production piece. It's going to be hard to figure out how to continue our collaborative piece with the quarantine and all. Not much has happened since our last post, we created some mock ups but that is pretty much it since we lack the materials we need to begin our pieces. Getting the materials is going to be hard since a lot of places are closing. I think we will be able to order them online but then we have to wait for them to ship which could take some time. The good thing is now I have lots of free time to work on our project. Again, bad thing, will we be able to start at all? Starting on my part of the project keeps on getting pushed back. It's getting a little sad since this is hardly a group project since I can barely interact with my partners.

I guess we're going to keep trying, since there's nothing else to do, but I'm wondering if it's too late to change our project. When it comes down to it our project is about interacting with the piece and... well... that doesn't really make sense during a pandemic.

I would show you our progress but we currently don't have any. BIG OOF.

Well I hope everyone else is doing good. Here is a link to the Red Cross site about safety during the pandemic https://www.redcross.org/about-us/news-and-events/news/2020/coronavirus-safety-and-readiness-tips-for-you.html

Stay healthy and I'll see you on the other side!

So we are about 4 weeks into quarantine. Things are still changing and everyone is still trying to adapt to those changes. I'm starting...

YOU GUYS GOT THIS! I definitely agree with Layla, that a 2d piece might be really cool if you guys are able to figure out a way to still get that idea of interaction and sensory into the piece/pieces. But it really does suck having to forget about an idea that you were working so hard on and so excited to make work, i hope you guys figure it out soon! wishing you the best <3

Stay positive. I know it's super hard to do that right now due to the fact that everything literally SUCKS but its gonna be okay. I agree with Layla though, maybe a little modification won't hurt due to the fact that you can't get the supplies you need or even physically collaborate with peers. It is definitely something that you and your group mates have to talk about so that you are making as much progress as possible during this time.

I wonder if you guys have considered changing the medium of your project. I know it isn't ideal (nothing about our current situation is), and it feels like it's too late to start over, but if you haven't started anyway, you're not really loosing anything by starting over. It might be interesting to create a 2D or digital piece based off the same concept of sensory deprivation, and that would eliminate the need for the viewer to physically interact with the piece. Whatever you decide to do, good luck moving forward.
