Still Adapting

So we are about 4 weeks into quarantine. Things are still changing and everyone is still trying to adapt to those changes. I'm starting to realize more and more how trying to create my (now individual) piece is going to be harder than I anticipated. When I finally had my materials set to order I realized that I had to find new sources since delivery is slow and many of the materials will take weeks to arrive. I'm still trying to get those items set and ordered but I find myself trying to think of there pieces that could replace my current one. If possible I would like to keep my current idea, but in case things start going awry I may have to try a different route.
If I were to switch projects I would stick to my current theme and concept, but alter it to fit to a different medium, and maybe incorporate some current day themes into it since they combine nicely to make my work more relevant. I plan to soon make a decision about which path is best to take for my project and continue to make necessary changes.

I have been having trouble getting stuff ordered as well. However, I do think it is best for you to change the medium of your project. Going the 2D route will ultimately make this easier for you with what's all going on at the moment. You could also add 3D elements to a 2D piece to make it somewhat how you would like it.
Things have definitely been rough lately, and it might turn out to be best for you to change the medium of your project. I don't really know what materials you have access to at your home, but it might be easier for you to go 2D with this. I think it would be really interesting if you made a painting but incorporated some 3D or textural elements into it, either just by building up the natural texture of the paint or by tacking on other mediums, like air-dry clay for example. It might be interesting to try to keep the same idea of viewer interaction by creating a painting that people want to reach out and touch, but it might…
Dang, yeah I can tell this is a really sucky situation for the 3D people especially. I hope you can find a way to get everything in order, but it may be time to go with something simpler. I'd suggest working with what you have at home, since everything material-wise is severely limited right now. Maybe you could try something with a digital medium? Either way, these limitations are sure to bring out your creativity. Good luck with everything.
